Introduction to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Tehran Polytechnic
Mechanical engineering is a branch of engineering science that attempts to analyze, design, manufacture, or optimize components, mechanisms, processes, and systems by applying the laws of engineering sciences, physics, and mathematics to real-world problems.

The history of the Mechanical Engineering Department dates back to the beginning of Tehran Polytechnic, and from this perspective, this faculty is one of the oldest mechanical engineering faculties in the country. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering officially began its activities in 1958 with the admission of students to the Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree. Now, this faculty, with more than 33 full-time faculty members, has had a significant impact on the country's scientific production and plays an important role in the country's industry.

The faculty members of this faculty are selected from among the best graduates of universities in Iran and other industrialized countries of the world, and the diversity of their research fields is such that experienced and well-known experts from almost all active and up-to-date fields of mechanical engineering are present in this faculty. The professors of this faculty have so far provided a source of pride and honor to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Amirkabir University of Technology by winning national and international honors such as the Albert Einstein Award, the National Model Professor, the Permanent Scientific Figure, and the winners of the Kharazmi Festival.
In terms of education, this faculty is clearly focused on meeting the country's needs and providing specialized personnel in the power plant industries, especially in the turbine and automotive industries, and for this reason, this faculty has a brilliant track record. This faculty has three educational departments: Applied Design, Heat and Fluids, and Manufacturing and Production, and all three educational departments are engaged in training students at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels; in the undergraduate program, students are studying in two fields: Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing and Production Engineering. The master's degree program is offered in three main majors (Applied Design, Energy Conversion and Manufacturing and Production) and four interdisciplinary majors (Mechatronics, Welding Engineering, Additive Manufacturing Engineering, and Acoustics and Vibration Engineering). The doctoral program in Mechanical Engineering has also been operating since 1990, and a large part of these graduates are now working as faculty members at prestigious universities in Iran and the world.
From a research perspective, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has made a significant contribution to meeting the needs of various industries in the country by focusing on projects at the frontier of knowledge in the form of master's, doctoral and postdoctoral theses, as well as participating in the implementation of national projects. With more than 10 research centers, 20 professional laboratories and 8 manufacturing and prototyping centers, this faculty is a unique collection of modern laboratory equipment that has been developed with the support of more than half a century of scientific and research experience of the professors of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, with the aim of providing research services to students, faculty members, researchers and various industries in the country, and it has the ability to provide modern, high-quality and economical laboratory services required by researchers in accordance with the most up-to-date national and international standards.
