Introduction
Mechanical Engineering ofAmirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic) is the same age as Tehran Polytechnic (born in 1958) and is the first engineering field that has started work as a mechanical institute.In nearly sixty years of educational and research activity, thousands of experienced and educated engineers from this faculty have studied knowledge at different degrees and have taken a prominent and exemplary role in managing different levels of management, industry and the country policy that, their presence in universities and industry inside and outside the country is obvious and distinct. The faculty members of this faculty have been selected from the educated and knowledgeable graduates of the top universitiesinside and outside the country and are trying to share their scientific, research, cultural, and social experiences with others.

History:
The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic) is one of the first faculties that started its activities in 1958 with some students in the field of mechanical engineering.The first series of graduates of the faculty in 1961 received a master's degree in mechanical engineering, which later became the bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with two majors: Solid and Thermo Fluids.The Master of Mechanical Engineering course started in the early 1971s. After the victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran and the reopening of universities, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering also started to present Manufacturing Engineering.Also, with the establishment of the doctoral course in mechanical engineering in 1990, this faculty is among the first scientific centers that started the doctoral course in the country.

Definition:
Mechanical engineering is a branch of engineering that tries to analyze, design, build, or optimize components, mechanisms, processes, and systems while considering ethical codes and economic issues by applying the laws of engineering, physics, and mathematics to real issues. Those whose work is based on energy conversion and heat and mass transfer.

Objectives :
The objective of studying mechanical engineering is:
  1. Deep understanding of the basic concepts of mechanical science (learning mechanical engineering)
  2. Learning methods for identification, analysis, formulation (modeling) and simulation of mechanical engineering problems in theory and experiment (learning analysis tools in mechanical engineering)
  3. Familiarity with manufacturing methods and tools (learning manufacturing tools in mechanical engineering)
  4. Providing creative and up-to-date solutions to solve real problems in mechanical engineering (acquiring the art of mechanical engineering)
  5. Learning concept design, optimizing, upgrading and presenting new products, processes, and systems proportional to the needs of the country (learning design in mechanical engineering)
  6. Effective communication as a member of a professional team and start a business (acquiring entrepreneurial skills in mechanical engineering)
  7. Professional and ethical understanding (learning moral and professional responsibility in mechanical engineerin
  8. Familiarity with the knowledge and applied topics of other related engineering disciplines such as comprehensive knowledge of financial and economic principles, implementation of circuits and control systems, etc. (Learning a comprehensive view and general engineering knowledge required by mechanical engineering)

Capabilities :
  1. Deep knowledge based on mechanical science to identify the problem.
  2. Ability to analyze and present mathematical models for identified problems.
  3. Ability to simulate and solve with the help of a software or provide experimental and laboratory models.
  4. Ability to analyze post-processing of simulation
  5. Ability to expand the results obtained from small issues to large and industrial dimensions.
  6. Ability to check the economics of the proposed plan.
  7. Ability to design products, production tools, and design processes considering the possibility of manufacturing and related economic issues.
  8. Ability to design in Computer-Aided Design software (CAD), analysis with the help of Computer-Aided Engineering software (CAE), preparation of construction processes and presentation of construction plans with the help of Computer-Aided Manufacturing software (CAM)
  9. Ability to optimize (considering the economic and environmental issues).
  10. Ability to work in group projects and multi-disciplines.
  11. Ability to make decisions based on engineering ethics.
  12. Ability to report and present a project or activity in standard formats.
